Looking for some advice with regards to removing my alloy locking nut on my CTR.

Discovered a puncture at the weekend on my rear driver's side. When I went to remove the wheel, the alloy locking key kept slipping. Took it into a tyre garage and they couldn't remove it neither and told me that I should try a new key.
Bought a new key and took it back to tyre garage but they still couldn't remove it. They said they used to use locking nut removers but no longer do as they could damage the alloy. Any ideas on how to remove the alloy locking nut without damaging the alloy or wheel stud?

hammer a slighjtly larger socket on to it ., then use a breaker bar

the garage will know how to do it. they just want you to agree that if they damage the wheel they arent liable
