This is my fn2 lowered Im not sure if it's on 15mm or the 30mm eibachs as they were on the car when I bought it. Ive got 20mm spacers front and back on standard wheels and tyres just now but they will be coming off if I get these wheels. My problem is I'm looking at buying a set of rota grids with tyres. this is when my problems start. The Rota's are 18/8.5 et44 with 235/40/18 tyres. All I'm asking is will they fit on my car with these tyres without any rubbing of the arches? Or would I have to purchase 4 new tyres at 225/40/18? Any help would be appreciated as I'm in a total limbo with this tyre size as I can't see any other wheels with this size of tyre.

Hit me with your opinions guys

That's not looking good.

I will be taking the spacers off when I get these wheels. It's more the tyre size I'm worried about with them being 235 rather than 225

235/40 will only be an extra 4mm bigger (side wall) than 225/40.
It's the 8.5" wide with 20mm spacers. You'd be effectively running almost 9.5" wheels!

I'm not going to be running the spacers mate as I'm taking them off the car.

Alan they're already sold mate got my mate buying them off me. Sorry bud.

Hi Dudge.
Ive had both 225/40/18 and 235/40/18 tires with my rims (18x8.5 +44).
If you drive the car hard on the street, or trackdays, or even encounter big bumps in the road, you will have rubbing against the plastic arch liner.

Lowered with 235 tires you will have rubbing against the arch itself, unless you run some negative camber.

Basically with 235 tires, rubbing is pretty much guaranteed. I used about -1.5 camber to counter that and since then Ive slightly rolled the arch a cm or so and trimmed the arch liner.

The pics you've seen on this forum with my car are with 225/40. And they become a bit stretched compared to 235's which fit perfectly.

I found that 235's give a bit better stability and fit the rim better. Especially if its a tire with soft sidewalls. Downside is having to do something about the rubbing.

I know mate they will look good. But I'm probs going to have to put my ditch finders that I've got on my wheels just now till I can raise some more money for a decent set of tyres.

I thought you had spacers Allan or I would have offered you them mate.

This is how she sits just now with the 20mm spacers. But I'm not sure what the drop is I've got. Any one?

I'm on coilovers with 18/8.5 et 44 running 245 40 18. No issues unless I turn my dampner below 10/32 clicks then they make little rubbing noises.

Cheers danj. how low are you running the coilovers? Have you any pics of how yours sits now?

I take it 10s the front and 32 rears? I'm on eibachs so don't think they will be as stiff as your coilovers.

Are you on the Facebook page ? I can pop some pictures to you on there but I'm having trouble uploading to here. I'm not sitting that low on then tbh I've got scope for another 30mm drop I think but there is no way I could do that with the current setup

Well tried a mate of a mates alloys he has on his Subaru on my car earlier which are the same size wheels and tyres and et size too and I had scraping on both front arches. So 235/40/18 on 8.5 with et 44 and the car lowered is a no no unless I spend even more money on 225 tyres which I don't fancy doing as I was already paying a good bit for these wheels.

So the search continues
