The aux part won't work I've got no aux connection on this stereo? I take it the ground wire HAS to be connected to ground (chassis) NOT negative ?

There's a gnd wire on the patch lead (black). Connect it to the gnd wire off the iso patch lead (black).

No aux connection on the android units but you may be able to mirror link your phone. Think Iphone is wireless and android needs a cable.

No worries mate. When you get the kit, connect plugs into both ends of the connects2 module first. Plug black/brown adapters into iso plug. Connect all your wires. Plug green/grey plugs in the car into the corresponding adapters on the connects2 module. Last thing is plug iso plug into the back of the android unit. Make sure antenna lead is secure in the back and blue wires connected.

Any issues then shout up.

If you saw smoke coming out of the connects2 box then something is definitely wrong. I'd check to make sure there's no short circuits, bare wires showing or melted cables before going further. Looking at the inside of the connects2 box, I'd say it's had it, that IC Chip shouldnt have a hole melted in it lol.

There's a fuse box under the steering wheel to the right, I'd imagine the fuse for the display and such will be in there, might want to check that if you say the display won't work even with the connects2 plugged in. Couldn't tell you which fuse it is, but theres a schematic somewhere you'll be able to look at.

It could be down to the wrong patch lead being connected to your new head unit that's caused something to blow up, can't say for sure though.

Just out of interest, did you try plugging the black 3.5mm that looks like an aux Jack into anything labelled other than "Steering wheel controlls"?

Hope this helps
