On a previous forum i was on there was a section for different areas eg: North, south, Midlands, Yorkshire and so on.
Each area had its own rep. that would organise mini meets, convoys to the big meets and all the other stuff in between.

Just wondered if anything like this had been tried on here or if anyone else think i would be a good idea to try?

I think it gives you a better idea of who's around your area.

Even though we do not have formal geographical areas smaller than countries, there is nothing stopping anyone arranging local meets.

The challenge is that this forum is not only UK, so we would need to define areas in all European countries.

It is predominantly UK though, and there is a separate section for Greek language and Swedish.

Don't see how it'd be too much hard work to throw on another sub-section for the UK, perhaps split into North/South and we can do the rest ourselves.

I never said there was anything stopping us, it was just a lot easier with the seperate section.
It wasnt just for meets though, you had a better idea of your local member and it was more of a social aspect.
I can fully understand the the forum is not just UK.
Could you not put a sub forum on, then if people wanted to have an area added they have to request it. Then put it up for a probationary time with a 'register' so local members can check in to see if there is enough activity in the area to warrant a sub section.

Cheers for the support JB :)

I have to say I preferred the old meeting section where it had everything together and you could see the most recent threads on one page. I've gone to meeting pretty much all over the country and this new system just doesn't work for me :(

I thought I would give it a bit of time to see if I got used to it and I still don't like it. I feel that meetings can get missed with all these sub-forums.

What about the old method with an option to select/filter the regions? Hope that makes sense.

One example that I've noticed is the Japfest 2 in the midlands area, this is a potential national meeting but it seems to be 'under the radar' from all those up north and down south.

Let me know if you agree or what you think.

Cheers,

Paul

Got to agree with you Paul. I have done the same, held off commenting until it has been up and running for a while. If there were regular small meets then fair enough (such as a small group who meet up monthly) then it would have been a good idea.

The thing with this forum is that nearly every meet is a national meet with members coming from from all over the place. Bring back the old section.....please, please, please.......:)

Slightly Off topic but..

I have always wondered about where the best places would be on the forums to ask for information on certain areas. Good reliable Garages / Bodyshops etc.

But never really knew where the best place would be to post? I think it'd be great to be able to chat to fellow east Midlands (Or Leicester) people on where they take their cars for their Mods/Repairs etc.

So, where would be best to post these kind of threads? This thread reminded me.

For something like this I would go for 'general discussion' but put as much info in your title as possible. General discussion seems to have the most in at any given time to me ..... plus if you have clearly put something in the wrong area the helpful mods will move it for you :)
