anyone else having problems with a 2nd gear? ive got an 07 plate type s gt 1.8. been fine until recently started having problems with selecting 2nd gear. seems to be more so shifting down from 3rd but does occasionaly happen shifting up. have to release clutch then re clutch to select 2nd. honda have said first there not aware of any problems. after 2nd trip to dealers they said they only know abput the type r having 3rd gear probs. 3rd visit they said there computer sys was playing up so couldnt check there hints and tips blah blah. its now going back again as 2days ago the whole gear box locked up and i was left coasting over a roundabout with no gears available,oh and the alarm doesnt work. any advice would be appreciated. cheers:(

Go to another dealer mate
To be fair, that's not a common problem. Another dealer will probably tell you the same.

Is the car still under warranty?
i had the same problem in my 2010 model, common problem, they'll deny there is any issue and the most they'll do is drain the gearbox oil and replace it. There was a document put up by the Vision i think about this ages ago, might be worth taking that into the dealer.

not common i had it on both the 1.8 i owned i did find that getting the revs right helped for me.

The gearbox locking up is a common problem? Fair enough, I haven't heard of many cases.

There is an entire thread dedicated to this problem in the bugs section...I think people have just accepted its a quirk of the cars gearbox.
its under warranty for 4 more months. theyre taking the car for a few days to test it as typically with an intermittant fault it hasnt shown when they have test drove it. the only reason they are now taking it abit more seriously is beacause another couple where in there complaining of the same fault but in a 1.8 5door. cheers guys
and found it:

if they do nothing, show them these, if there isn't a problem there wouldn't be bulletins about it....
cheers mate will do
Had the same problem and got fobbed off several times. You get use to it in the end.. the being fobbed off part not the gear problem.
