Hi all,

I'm looking for a tracker for my FN2 due to noticing someones been trying to steal one of our cars in our drive. Not sure which one but mines is most expensive - not sure if they want the car or anything in it. So looking to make it more secure by getting a tracker.

Anyone know some good ones, Ive heard of one from a website named tracker that doesnt use GPS as its system is able to track underground and in buildings which apparently GPS can't do. If anyone knows about this kind could they let me know the price of it.

Thanks:p

I was thinking of something like this ...

GPS based, but it leaves a mappable trail than you can follow via the Internet - no subscription \ monthly fee - just a 'pay-as-you-go' SIM card - it supports 'texting' you and can even be asked to call you, so you can hear what is happening in \ around your car ...

Wired in to the 12V supply, with an on-board rechargeable battery back-up - what's not to love ? ...

The tracker response. excellent piece of kit which is the only one that uses VHF as well as GPS. You can access your profile anytime online and locate your car or review the last 6 months of movement of your vehicle. Great kit but not cheap. Also it requires an annual subscription and a call centre monitors everything.

I was considering one of the systems which do not require a call centre/subsription but my insurance company would not reduce my premium with them.

only nuisance is that you have to have your tag with you in the car or you activate an alert... and get put on the naughty list by tracker!

Yes, these are readily available everywhere - but I haven't yet heard of them being used by an "everyday" car thief - but, I'm certain that those who steal Ferraris and the like to order, are well aware of the technology !

I've heard that some people are installing these without telling their other half and then spying on them.

Was looking at getting a tracker installed and enquired with my insurance company about lower premiums, but was told it did not really lower the premiums it's just for peice of mind. But it all depends on your model of car. Possibly worth it for a type R though.

My insurer didn't offer lower claim for having a tracker, which has put me off for now as I will need the money for the increase I will get when I move house in March.
