A couple of weeks back, (just 1 week after buying my type r) i got the dreaded squeel from the rear brakes that i had read about on here.

It only squeeled at around 55mph for some reason and didnt do it very often. It was when i was sat at some traffic lights on a very slight incline i noticed the car was holding itself, and once i had noticed it, everytime i stopped, the car would stop with a jerk and hold.

I rang up the dealer where i bought it and they said take it your local Honda and the fault will be sorted.

Booked it in and had it sorted yesterday. They stripped and cleaned the rear callipers and greased the sliders, replaced the rear pads and while they were at it, they cleaned and greased the front callipers too, and adjusted the handbrake. Well chuffed!

This was Marshall Honda in scarborough.

It feels like a new car to drive now. It must have been robbing me of power and drinking more fuel.

So check your brakes, even if you dont get the squeel they can still be binding pretty bad.

I now have a free rolling, more economic, faster type r!

Its out of its 3 year manufacturer's warranty, but it came with 12 months from an approved Honda dealer when i bought it so the work was carried out under this.
