Hi all,

Bought a mk8 just over a week ago and drove it on the motorway home going 80mph+ no problems. Today on the motorway I was doing 80mph+ in 6th gear and could smell burning. When I kept to under 80mph the smell stopped. There is also no smell when I rev in low gears at high rpm. Any explanation as to why this may be?

I get the same when I give mine the Beans too. Personally I think its just the exhaust heating up.

I know with my FN2 the valve cover gasket was leaking just a few drops on the manifold which would then great a slight burning smell, that and before I changed the clutch and it would slip when I'd give it the beans.
