Hi all,

After some advice, my FN2 type r has a binding rear brake Caliper. I went to honda and they want 80 plus vat to strip it down and if it needs a replacement Caliper they have quoted the best part of 300.

Any advice please? Do I go to an independent and get them to clean the Caliper down or what?

Is it common on the FN2? I've not long had it, hence all the questions!

Thanks
Oli.

There's no need for a dealer to do this, you can DIY the job if you're capable.

Yes, it's a fairly common issue that can be addressed with a little TLC.

yup as stated above, simple DIY. Sliper pins just needs a clean and regreasing.
if the rubber seals/piston has gone then i think you can get a replacement kit from tegiwa or search ebay.
I did this for my front left caliper and it good as new ! :)

Thanks for everyone's replies.

Had the calliper off, all seemed fine. The pads had some corrosion on them and weren't moving too easily. Cleaned them on both sides and hopefully that's done the job. They're moving a lot more freely within the housing now.

Thanks again.

The caliper slider pins and/or the pad guides can become dry/clogged, which then prevents the caliper from easily retracting.
