hello

happy new year to everyone...

anyway, i don't normally like "painting" or "modding" too much but definately want to sort the calipers out...they are fine on mine but are just the normal grey. My wife has red calipers on her giulietta and my last car had black calipers so mine look a bit boring :(...

now i don't want red but would like the calipers in black...how easy is it to do myself?..i assume wheels off and a wire brush and hammerite would do?...any particular hammerite?..paint or spray?

would it be better to take it somewhere and get them to do it ??

thanks

I used Halfords Red Paint, took about 4 coats, really easy to do.
Used chrome radiator to paint the type r on the calipers.

i would spray them not brush paint. ive seen some that look like they were painted with a stick.....

I brushed mine with some caliper paint from Halfrauds (about £12 a tin and is good stuff but one coat and let it dry otherwise its like spreading tar and it dries quick) and mine dont look like they have been painted with a stick, I removed the wheels and stripped the caliper down and cleaned on the car then paited all the hard bits and where the pads meet then refitted the pads and bolted back together and painted the fronts etc. This way I don't have paint on the pads or anything and have painted all the caliper backs without getting paint all over everything, I then cleaned the inside of the wheels and also painted the red bodywork on the inside of the rear arches to black as once the mud was washed off these looked lousy in red again taking care to just paint the steel inner arch and nothing else.

After spraying the calipers of my DC2, I will definitely be using a brush when I get a chance to do the calipers on my Civic. Going to go for black calipers....I've a Silver FN2, going to go for a black and silver theme. Only thing I can't decide is to paint the "Type R" on the calipers white and red, or just leave the whole thing as black
