Hi Everyone,

Got my Honda Civic 2010 1.4 petrol to MOT station yesterday.
All tests were fine but when I collected the car I noticed clock was blinking and time was reset to 1pm, I ignored that, came home and parked the car.

Today morning I was not able to start the engine.
Clock is still blinking, and it is resetting to 1pm every time I try to start, ocassionally will get a key icon displayed.

This is a video how it looks and sounds:

After browsing the forum I found few recommendations:
- tried starting the car with my second key
- pressed the fuel cutoff/inertia switch
- disconnected my battery and reconnected it

Unfortunately no luck.

Contacted the MOT station, they said they haven't done anything to the car that could cause this issue. I am not happy at all, never had any issues starting the car.

Any ideas, recommendations?

Do you know if your car has ever had its battery replaced? If it hasn't I'd suggest now is the time, bearing in mind it will now be 8 years old. Most garages will check the health of your battery for low or no cost to confirm if it needs replacing.

If you get a jump start, make sure your keys are not in the ignition while connecting/disconnecting battery leads!

You are right @bfranklin - "cars generally work better when they have a working battery" ;)

Got same battery from my friend, started my car on it, all worked nicely, bought a new one and all sorted.

Thanks!
