Hi All

I've recently been suffering a problem with my petrol Civic 1.8 SE plus.

It is totally random when it occurs but it never occurs with a cold start. I have driven about 10 to 15 miles and then stop my vehicle switch it off go into a shop or fill up with fuel and then once completed I am then unable to start my car. It cranks but just won't start. I called Honda Assist and the first time they came out by the time they arrived the car starter again when they tried it. Then it happened again once again after I had refuelled and Honda Assist arrived and they also could not get it to start but they tied it down to no fuel coming through. They could not get it to start and called from recovery but before recovery arrived my car started again.

Today my car has been in to Honda and ive explained to them what is happening and what Honda Assist said but I picked my car up from them this afternoon but they could not find a fault. They cleared some fault codes and updates my infotainment to RC8.

Has anyone else has this issue of not starting when the vehicle has warmed up but random and it starts most of the time just fine.

Any help appreciated

Many thanks

Mark

Does this 1.8 have an EVAP purge valve? Ok random question, but the Vectra VXR suffer from a very similar issue, and only after refueling. It is caused by a faulty EVAP Solenoid Valve. You said they cleared some codes, any idea what they were?

Friend of mine owned a big scooter a while back and that did exactly the same thing, wouldn’t start when hot.
After waiting about 15 mins it started ok after it had cooled down a bit.
Traced the issue down to a dodgy fuel pump which was easy and quite cheap to repair.
You could ask Honda to check the fuel pump.

I had a Hillman Hunter that was just the same.

Whenever I hear about stop/start my old Hunter springs to mind.

Plus, on occasions, I've seen (heard) stop/start cars at lights fail to start first time when the lights change.
