As you know Civi08 (Tim) and myself were at Castle Combe earlier today. Not many photos were taken as the memory card was filled with video currently being uploaded to the tube as I type this. So here are the photos of the day...

Nice pics, lovely car. More interested about this video... is it something YT will delete on sight?

Yup, that EP3 was rapid. The FD2 had everything lightweight, no rear seats, light bucket seats and even removed the passenger seat!

lol, nah it is just in car camera footage. Some sessions were better depending on how much of a rush I was in to get back on track! May be better to edit it down to a highlights video rather than the whole thing...

It's a shame Kim, loads of nice Lotus' and some good looking Hondas' too. Combe is a fast circuit, weather was great, car held its own and it was great fun. Didn't take many pics but a lesson learnt for next time - take the laptop to clear the camera memory card after you fill it by 11am!

I don't feel like typing as much detail as you did Tim, but echo much of what you said!

You know my brakes were smoking hot after each session.
Tyre pressure increased session after session despite letting air out inbetween.
Eibach springs are not enough, needs firmer suspension as I was rubbing arches on some corners.
Check oil regularly as well, mine barely moved yet Tim went down to min almost after a few sessions.
Fuel, 10 mpg!! Refuel required in the afternoon. Jerry cans would have been useful to avoid paying 147 a litre...
My set up held its own really well, although as Tim has alluded to losing weight will make a hang of a difference. Unload everything from the rear (jack, tyre repair kit, boot cover, back seats) and then set about losing weight from the front as well.
On the whole most drivers were very well mannered, some were a little more stubborn which is visible on camera. The HOT are a great bunch though and I look forward to attending an event in the future.

Think that's about it from me, I may write a more detailed summary once I've had time to relax and catch it all - as Tim says properly exhausted!

My drive back was a little busy - I wouldn't have liked any more than 90 minutes... and even that was stressful enough.

So has your thirst been sated.....or do you now look at that sweeping bend in front of you and find the foot squeezing the pedal ?
:D

Glad you both enjoyed it so much.

Interesting about the Eibachs.
That was going to be one of the next projects but if they are too soft on the FN2s the dervs will be even more of an issue.
Eibach Coilies it is then :(

The great thing is knowing just how much you can throw the FN2 around and how much abuse it can stand up to!

Roads are roads though and you could never drive we drove today on any road unless it was 3 lanes wide, confirmed closed and had fields to run off! :D :D

Hopefully I managed to get a datalog which may be interesting if I get into it. My laptop is busy uploading videos to youtube for the next 48 hours so so I may have a look at it on Sunday...

I agree.
I know Im no where near the limits even with the derv.
But I would be frankly stupid to get anywhere near those limits on the road.
So its frustrating....cos you can never really understand the car until you find those limits.

I heard from a reliable source that ever increasing tyre pressure even with defaltes is a sign of moisture in the tyre, I had no issues with mine though ( AD08) 2 deflates in the morning had me running perfect pressures all day.

I thought the eibachs werent enough too, TBH I thought they were ok until I went out in a car with Nitrons- night and day difference :(

What oil grade are you using, I switched to 5w40 Fuchs Titan S and never used a drop which was good, using a 30 grade before I used to burn a little with pure road use.

I wouldn't say they were ever increasing. The sighting laps put some heat in so slight reduction required. First hot session reduction required. Was then on until after lunch. My pace in the afternoon was quicker due to a combination of clear track and increased confidence so one further reduction was made. The message is to keep an eye on them so they are at optimum pressure whilst driving hard.

Oil was either 5 or 10w 40 fully synthetic castrol I think. Gsf spare and checked but scarcely used a drop it seems. Must try harder!
