Notice a vibration through the clutch pedal, worse before the clutch connects. Not a violent vibration, quite slight. But noticeable. Took it to a mechanic and he said it may be the pressure plate but it's not slipping and there is no noise, said not to worry about it.

Tend to believe a mechanic who is happy to turn down £300 labour if it was the flywheel.

Any opinions? First time in a diesel, had a 1.1 206 before so not sure if this is normal.

I would've said it was the DMF, but your mechanic has the advantage as he's actually experienced it, so pretty unreasonable for anyone here to disagree!

In any case, you may as well ignore it until the problem either becomes much worse or goes away...
