hello everyone.

my cdti over the last 6 months started to do a strange thing. every time i come off the gas to slow down for stopping my idle goes very low and you can feel the car vibrating/shaking/juddering and the rev dial goes very close to stop. then once the car has stopped moving the idling goes back to normal again almost immediately.

it used to do this very occasionally about a year ago. now its every time i slow down to a stop. but the motor never stalls it always keeps going.

it is due for service this month anyway and is covered by honda happiness extended warranty.

but has this happened to anyone else and what could it be? the car has done 32,000 miles and is used 2 times a month to go shopping.

not surprised your having these problems , the fn2 needs to be revved to 5k + to red line from time to time , i do mine once a week . might help kick out all the crap built up in exhuasts and EGR valve ?

but i have a 1.8 petorl

Is it something as simple as travelling at to low a speed in a too higher gear.

When you are slowing and it occurs is the clutch in or out. Does it occur if you declutch slighlty earlier or change to a lower gear before stopping.

Does it occur when you are statonary and in neutral and you rev the engine and take your foot off the accelarator.

It may be that the engine needs a long run working the engine hard.

it happens whenever i need to stop. for example i see a red traffic light ahead, i put the gears to neutral and hold down the clutch pedal to the floor. the engine goes to very very slow and car shakes and vibrates as im slowing down. once car stopped moving then engine speed dial goes up to normal ( just under the number 1) and shaking vibration stops.

why would it need a long run working the engine hard?. do you think there is something wrong with it? most of the people around me here with this model car are 60+years old and use it only to go to shops like i use mine. the longest run i think would be about 12 miles i think at about 50mph. is that long enough for it? the battery was replaced last year because it didnt get used for 6 weeks and went flat. so im wondering if the battery is about to go again and that might be making the engine shake if its too weak?

just hope covered by the warranty and if not then not something big wrong with the engine.

Do you find it slow to pick up speed ? It could be the dpf, like the other member said just give it a thrashing on a A road or motorway to clear the dpf filter.

Hopefully that'll sort it...
the car is driving well, i dont drive fast and its never been on a motorway. its never been over 50mph.

im not giving it thrashing is correct thing to fix. instead i think it need engineer to test faulty parts. you cant fix broken engine by hitting it with stick like the old basil faulty film!.

what is the dpf filter? - maybe it needs to be changed at the next service? iv never heard of this. is it the coorect name for the diesel fuel filter?

Have a look at this thread and have a chat with the thread starter, it sounds like the same problem..

http://www.civinfo.com/forum/engine...stage-2-egr-delete-has-made-me-happy-man.html

Then if interested, get in touch to discuss EGR Delete (other option may be to try and either clean it or replace it altogether assuming the EGR is the culprit).

thanks for the post and link. i had a read of the other people - but they had other running problems also. this car drives perfect in every way except the very slow engine speed when the car is slowing down. but when the car has stopped moving the engine speed goes back to normal again. its very strange. in other normal driving nothing is wrong with the car.

i dont want to change the way of the car to fix something that should be working as normal like when the car is new from honda. i want it to stay same way but working correctly and not slow engine when car is coming to stop.

so i hope maybe at service it will be fixed under honda happiness program - but thankyou so much for reading and suggest fix.
