Hey just a quick question, has anyone else had any bother with the central locking system. I've been left standing outside the car like a muppet on several occassions because my central locking decided it didnt want to recognise my key. I've done the obvious and replaced the battery in my key, had a fiddle around, and cleaned the contacts but it still plays up. Just wondering if anyone else has had trouble with this? Janey xox

Is it always in the same place, ie work car park? Electrical interference in the surrounding area can have an effect. :(

If not, take it back to the dealers, that's what your warranty is for. :D

Regardless of that they have an obligation to you. If they are not fulfilling that report them to Honda UK.

The problem is in the back door. The remote doesn't work because it recognise that the rear door isn't closed. Just press the back door to "lock" and try again.

It happens to me every so often. Hasn't happened for a while now but it was taken back to the dealer when it happened and they did something to it ( so they say) and it has happened only once since!

I have no idea what they did though :D

I've had the remote fail to work on two occasions, each time had to put the key in the lock to open the car. How old fashioned is that!

Working fine at the moment though.

mine does it to, but my dealer said the central locking works on infra red which can be confused by any electrical equipment. Good to see its technologically advanced!

This might sound odd but did you see the top gear episode where Jeremy Clarkson put the remote key to his head and gained additional radio strength from the remote, he was able to unlock/ lock the car from a greater distance? Sounds odd and not exactly scientific but it could prove/ disprove that the strength of the radio transmitter in the key is or is not at fault.

As for the electrical interference, I work for an large electrical company and often park at or near grid sites with very high levels of electrical interference and the key works fine every time, touch wood.

There must be a fault either in the car or key or combination on the particular car for it not to work.

The central locking is radio, not infra red. However - it can be affected (usually only range reduced) in areas of high electrical interference. This might include factories with a lot of electrically driven machinery, radio/TV transmitters, mobile phone masts etc. Another occasional trouble can be those radio linked temporary traffic lights.

Having said all that - the only times mine failed to lock was always due to me not having shut the hatch properly, and it never failed to unlock.
