I turned on the air blower in my car the other day and switch it to come out the front vents only. It was then then i noticed that air was coming out the vents on both passenger and drivers side but not the centre vent attached to the stereo.

I checked when driving into work today and it appears as well that there is no air coming out towards my feet either but it comes out towards the windscreen when on the feet/screen setting.

Anyone had any problems like this before?

Well the fault has been found!! It was the mode control motor attached for the blower. I called Honda and was told that there was only 1 part left in the company and it was in Belgium. If I didn't get it now there wouldn't be anymore in until March 2015 due to a back order. At £48 i decided not to mess about and to get it anyway. Lucky for me I did as I plugged in the new motor and hey presto it worked!

If you look up under the dash on the drivers side to the left you will see the box that looks like the one in the ebay link below. The centre console trim will need to be pulled back to access 2 bolts but apart from that it just clicks into place.

Honda Civic 2006-2011 HEATER FLAP CONTROL MOTOR REGULATOR A24840A3700001 | eBay

Remember that honda won't have any until March next year so it's worth even getting a second hand one even if it lasts till then

Was it an easy install? Might cure my lack of centre vent air...

mine stopped blowing air out of ALL vents early hours of this morning.
it had been working ok earlier, then on my way home i realised the screen/windows were starting to mist up,-but no matter what "mode" i tried nothing was blowing through foot/screen/or centre vents.
adjusting the fan speed up and down i could hear the fan working ok!

Has that regulator got its own fuse?
looked in handbook, but can`t see what might cover that circuit.
i will also pull the pollen filter out and check that in the morning(peeing down right now)

just thought,-surely there should be airflow through at least one set of vents even if regulator has died?!

Hi Tibsy

Did you have the problem with the fans after cleaning the pollen filter?

Just drove home now (about an hour drive) and had no air in the car at all. I can put the fan on.

I can here the noise on all speeds and the hot and cold seem to work but the mode seems to be stuck but its not blowing out of any vents at all so wheres the air going ??? :(

I think ill start with replacing the filter as well and keep my fingers crossed.

Its not often I drive for longer than 30-40 minutes in one sitting and it seems to only happen around the 1 hour mark.

Was in the car this morning. No air. Coming home, there was air and all working fine.

I replaced the pollen filter anyway when I got home. The old one was only alittle grey not black but was abit damp from the rain.

Ill just have to keep an eye on it. Really weird problem.

Had this exact problem this weekend. Suddenly no air from any vents then it just came back on its own. Can anyone confirm the cause of this. My pollen filter looks a bit grey but it's still letting air through. Why would it start working again if it was a clogged filter anyway? It wouldn't unclog itself would it?

Also I had the AC set to low as the car had been heated by the sun but it wasn't cooling. This was before the vents stopped working but as soon as they started working again the air coming through was freezing. Maybe the issue is this diverter motor thingy as it could explain why I started getting conditioned air once it started working again but not before it happened.

There seem to be a couple of threads with similar problems, but not solution to this.

I've not done a long journey in my car for a few weeks, but there has been a hissing sound from the air filter area for a few days. I reasoned that the filter was probably clogged (I've only had it a few months and have never checked) and that the hiss was probably air escaping out of the filter housing as it couldn't get through the filter fast enough.

So, I got a new Bosch one and bunged it in. The old one was grey (and damp at the bottom) but far from the worst I've seen.

Anyway - today I noticed that it was still hissing, and in fact no air was coming out of anywhere - not the feet, not the screen and not the face level vents. OH was not amused, as we were on a 40 minute journey and it was quite cold.

I assumed I'd put it in the wrong way around, so when we arrived I took it out - nope - it was in the right way. I turned the fan on with no filter and loads of air came out the filter housing. I put the cover back with no filter, and loads of air came out all the right places. I put the filter back, and loads of air still came out the right places. We drove home - and half way back the air stopped coming out, and the hissing started again.

Any pointers much appreciated - I have to drive to Scotland over Christmas, and I'd rather not do it wearing a coat, hat and gloves :)

Not sure when it was last regassed: I've only had it a few months. The cooling part of the a/c definitely works as the thing next to the filter (condenser?) had ice on it.

I wonder if the old clogged filter was stopping it draining properly and there was a build up of water? It seems ok for now, but it did stop coming out all the vents yesterday too. I turned the heater off for a few minutes and when it came back on it was fine.

Most peculiar and a bit annoying - but at least I can get heat into the cabin again.

It's not the filter but the ice build up blocking the flow of the air into the cabin ,when you turn off A/C the ice melts and the air starts flowing freely again

I have been experiencing this exact problem recently. Everything is normal on short journeys, but about an hour into a longer drive the air flow all but stops from all the vents! It happens whether it's set to hot or cold, and the fan is working fine as you can hear it going at full speed easily if you turn it up, but where is all that air going?

Has anyone found out for sure what causes it?

I think my ice was caused by low gas - I tool it to an a/c specialist who said it was low. As he also said that it held pressure but had a leak - and that it was so common on Civics that he kept the condesors in stock and then later said he'd have to order one, I lost confidence somewhat. It's had no gas at all for a few weeks. I think I will take it to Kwik Fit for one of their test/gas for £49 jobs.

However, since it had no gas, I've obviously had the a/c set to off, and I've noticed that the heater swaps to cold air whenever I'm coasting or using light throttle (it's hilly where I live, so in traffic I tend to let it roll down hill in gear). This has been fixed by topping up the coolant, which was a little low. Whereas before I had to have the temp set to 22 or so to get warm (and even then I got an icy winter blast if I lifted off) it is now lovely and toasty set to 10 degrees.
