In the last couple of years, I have taken on a work-related voluntary role that has absorbed all of my spare time. While this is hugely satisfying, it has left me very little time to manage Civinfo. This has been a concern for me for these couple of years, and therefore I have turned to a Canadian company called AutoGuide.com. AutoGuide.com own and run more than 400 websites, including a vast number of automotive forums, and they will now host and manage both Civinfo and Jaginfo.

This change should present no immediate nor obvious differences. The sites will run on their quite significant server platform, with dedicated staff to ensure smooth running. There will also be community managers with a high availability to help administer the site.

Most importantly, there is no reason for the ethos, principles and quality of the site atmosphere to change in the slightest. We started off with the intention of making the site friendly and informative by asking for politeness and respect - this formula will be continued into the future.

It has been a fun but busy run for me - now's the time for someone else to take the strain!

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself to you all. My name is Philip, I am a community manager for AutoGuide.com and will be joining the site to take over the webmaster duties for Pottsy.

I am here to help primarily with the technical end of things and help make the jobs of the current Mods/Admins easier. I posted a real basic run down to answer common questions below. If you have more questions or concerns please feel free to post them or send me a message.

What are our intentions?

We bring reliability, support and the infrastructure needed to ensure that the community will be around for years to come. It’s our goal to work with your board staff to help provide the resources and required to give this community a broader reach, to attract new members to better the overall knowledge shared in the community.

Will leadership change?

Continuity is the focus here, You as the membership work very hard to keep building this community while staff keep the walls and the roof up in this place; We are primarily here to make sure the lights stay on. Every community is unique and should always be respected in that regard. You guys have established your own unique rules and regulations and a strong reputation that is carried by all of this and it’s paramount that we maintain this level of integrity.

What am I here for?

My primary role is to be the technical contact as I said earlier you all built the foundation and keep the roof from falling, I am here keeping the lights on inside. We will be on the forum checking in daily to make sure regular maintenance is all taken care of and keep things running smoothly from behind the scenes. We will also be setting up a help desk on the site for when you have questions or issues with the site or your account and need assistance.

I do look forward to getting to know you all and this unique community better.

Thanks,

Philip

A big thank you to Pottsy for all the work he has put into making Civinfo what it is today!

I can't believe it has been 8 years since it was founded, even if I'm a bit of a n00b only having been a member for 7 of those years.

For those wondering, I have been chatting with the mod/admin team a little today. I want to work on some minor changes to the site that many of you will probably not notice since its more to help them. If anyone has suggestions for upgrades to the site like things you have seen on other sites you think would be a good addition to the user experience here let me know. Beyond that the same rules will continue to apply and the same people looking out for that will continue to do so.

The stickers will be done by a central forum sticker sending person, working for Autoguide.com (so there should be no difference in quality or service).

For right now they may be coming out of the US to you. The guy who does ours does a bunch of sites on our network. It may take a few more days than normal to reach you but we will be continuing the program moving forward.
