Trading the car in so went to put the older version discs back into the car and the sat nav will not let me it says "older version disc installed please check disc" whilst I can see why they have doen this is there anyway around it???

Yes there is and it's here somewhere.

I did that on both my 8G Civics. You do need to go into the menu system via the three finger button press then the option to force it to read the disc is in there.

Might take a bit of digging unless someone else can remember.

Sorted it, so can now put the newer discs up forsale.
