Hi All,

hope this is not too 'noobish' ; I've searched through the handbook (all 508 pages....) and the forum here for info on the chime when you get in the car and put the key in; guess it chimes about 6 times... Is this normal? No warnings on the info panel appear. I would like to turn it off if possible but knowing what it is would be good too!

My car is a '56 plate 2.2 EX diesel with manual box.

Thanks in advance

1. Is the door still open, with the key in.
2. have you anchored the seat belts.
3. Are the headlights on.
There should be a warning on the dash, for the above though.

Probably because your seatbelt isn't on, most American cars have this 'feature' and it's one thing about my car that drives me potty. I've always put the ignition on before fastening my belt so "beep beep beep beep beep, beep beep beep beep beep..."

AAAAAAARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!

If you want to stop the "seatbelt beep": http://www.civinfo.com/forum/how/5228-stop-seatbelt-beeper-merged.html (or you could just buckle up before you turn the key) ;)

More annoying I find the "key still in contact" signal when opening the doors... I hate it when I'm washing the car, having the radio playing en opening the doors to clean the interior.... Beep beep beep beep ... Drives me nuts sometimes! : @

Thanks everyone for their input; I'm going to try to get in the habit of belting up before popping the key in!

Regards

Very Annoying Warning.

I'm all for seatbelt reminders - I'd be quite happy to have a bleeper if I drove away without a seatbelt on, or even just put it in gear. But turning the key to II? I have to wait for glowplugs then anyway, which makes it sensible to do that before putting the seatbelt on...

And yes, the "key in ignition" one is a pain as well.

Honda's warning system for seatbelts can be slightly annoying, particularly if you are like me and keep your car in a garage(we are a dying breed), so you cannot avoid hearing the chimes short of disabling them completely, which i would not be comfortable doing.
My previous 2 cars(Ford & Volvo)also had an audible seatbelt warning, but was much better because it never occurred until you started driving above a certain speed or length of time.
