Ive noticed lately that every one i tell ive got a new civic they all say they like the old shape one better. I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this too. ive literally only spoken to a hand full of people that like the fn2 shape. I personally would never swap mine for an old shaped one and the interior on them is rubbish compared to the new type r. :)

The thing is the EP3 (i do own an EP3 and FN2) is starting to become a chav car, strictly because the pre facelifts can be picked up for not a lot of money now, its a shame but it will happen to the FN2 in a few years time too.

Most "Mr Averages" will only ever buy ONE brand new car in their life but if they get a reliable one they will love it and will cherish the memory of it when it gets recycled into knives and forks.

I know I do but you either have to run it till it dies or change it every two years.

I think it was worth the hit. Only my feet made the (drivers) mat mucky. The clutch lasted from birth till death as did just about every other component (18 years) and the exhaust lasted 17 years !

When you are the only owner you look after it (provided you didn't get a Monday or Friday build)

I nearly bought an ep3 but my friends who are not really into cars think my fn2 is better as has already been said, an ep3 "is a chavmobile". An fn2 in my opinion is a more refined car but may not be as much of a drivers car as the ep3. Clarkson gave it a bad review and said the ep3 was better, people jumped on the bandwagon with this and agreed with him without having driven both. In a few years when the fn2's price comes right down will people be saying the same then? Best of both worlds with the fn2 (I think so anyway....) great, fast hatchback with good handling and well equipped aswel.

Having both cars, which is actually the quickest and/or handles better? I've heard the fn2 "feels" slower when driving...
The FN2 feels slower..however i dont think it is, when we went to pick up our FN2 the mrs had to move over in our EP3 to let me past.

The ep3 handles better out of the box imo, i will be getting tein springs and fast road setup on the FN2 which is one of the best mods apparently.

EDIT im actually ashamed of how dirty my EP3 is in that picture, its just not been the weather to clean it this week. The inside of it is mint, and the outside cleans up really well just waiting for a break in the rain.

This is a debate that has been had several times on here and several other forums since the EK9 was replaced with the EP3. Every model will have its fans and its detractors, with one saying that its the true Type R because its; lighter/faster/ handles better.

it's a shame to say that EP3's have dropped into the price bracket for erm...... the less sensible age group, the majority of them have galactic milage and have been abused rather than driven hard. I drove both but the FN2 won hands down.

wouldnt mind a EK9 for trackdays though

Why worry what other people say? If you like your car then who cares what other people prefer. Your money and you spend it on what you want.:)

I agree with this.

If anything the FN2 turns heads in my works car park. It's so unique looking that people don't even know it's just a civic, though their are quite a few SE's at work now.

One of the best handling cars I've had and the engine is bomb proof. If you get the opertunity to drive one do it!
Had my Ek9 for a while and really enjoyed it.
