I bought an 09 plate Civic Type R GT and after buying it realised there are only 2 seat bealts in the rear seat. Does anyone know if its possible to get a third centre belt fitted and if so where can it be done or who would supply such a thing.

Any help would be much appreciated on this subject

It has been done but check your v5 and you will see that the type r has only 4 seats and im not sure that the insurance companies would honour claims involving such a modification. Proceed with caution.

Also lap belts are pretty dangerous, especially to children.
True, but better than nothing at all though.

Also, as stated earlier, technically, a CTR is officially a 4 seater on the V5 even if you put another belt in.

That could come back and bite you badly if you have an accident or something.

I would tend to leave it as a four seater mate. There will definitely be more to this modification than meets the eye if you ask me.

I rang these SEATBELT SERVICE - Seatbelt Specialist, Mobile Fitting Service

They quoted £98 for a lap belt and £200ish for a 3 point.

I was told they have done CTR's before and they are approved and would pass mot etc. Has anyone ever heard of them or used them?
Apparently they run amobile service foc within the M25.

IF and only IF this checks out and the dvla/insurance issue is easily sorted i think we should try a group purchase.

My insurance company has my car down as 5 seats???
If that's the case, and i inform dvla, should that not be it?
Or (although not the best option) a lap belt can easily be unbolted apparently to avoid mot or insurance issues. I wouldn't use it with kids though.

Thoughts anyone?
