Hi guys,
my 58 reg FN2 seems to make a very slight whining sound from the clutch / gearbox area when moving off in 1st gear. this is only until the engine has warmed up though..
ive heard on here that the clutch can be something of a 'weakness' in these cars, and the pedal does make a 'clicking' sound when fully depressed sometimes...

any help appreciated as it kind of ruins the driving experience some-what

Is the noise;
a. in 1st but clutch pedal down.
b. in 1st at bite point.
c. in 1st with clutch pedal up.
and d. defo only in 1st gear.

I have a slight whining noise when taking off in first gear after start up every time and have had it for one and a half years at least. Think I've read on here a few times it's a "gearbox characteristic".

its right on the biting point and only in 1st from what i can hear..
if its just a 'gearbox characteristic' then i can live with that...

Ah... if its right on the biting point and only on the biting point it has to be clutch/flywheel/release bearing issue

its going back to the dealer then, only on 22k miles
