Hi Guys and Girls,

Not to worried yet but have noticed when I change out of 3rd its a bit keen and almost feels like its being spat out.

I have an 09 CW FN2 and wasn't sure if any other 09
>onwards FN2 owners have had issues with 3rd Im aware of the 3rd gear synchronizer or 3-4 shift sleeve fault but wonder if this is an early sign it might be on its way out? Its intermittent at the moment and it has never popped out of 3rd yet by its own accord.

Cheers.

Yep I have an 09 cw and also have this not that often but it feels like it's popping out as you grab the knob, also have the gear selection issue (not happened recently) I took mine to Honda in January they told me it was clutch and quoted me around £900 to change it, told them I'll get it done elsewhere for cheaper (he agreed) anyway get my clutch done still had the problem took it back to Honda they then tell me it's a gearbox bearing so they booked it in, end of the day get a phone call saying sorry not covered under warranty as the garage that did the clutch had used non Honda gearbox oil, I said to him "if you remember I had this problem in January before the clutch was changed and it was you that told me it was the clutch and it clearly wasn't , he replies "yes I remember that but this was booked in for a bearing problem", I couldn't believe what I was hearing as it was him that told me it was a gearbox bearing problem and the clutch wasnt at fault so to book it in. Anyway paid them £200 and got my car back, will get it looked at by a gearbox specialist at a later day. Back on topic I'm reading more and more 09 plates having these issues again so looks like it's came back to haunt Honda.

I think this is just a 'trait' of the gearbox in the fn2, I've never drove one that didnt need the clutch ramming into the floor to change gear cleanly into third in anger even a brand new demonstrator and it just doesnt feel as slick as the other gears.

I had the early model 3rd gear issue on mine fixed under warranty and that was different you would notice instantly you had to fight to get it in and it would ping straight back out sometimes

I think you're right, 3 gear on both my FN2's (59 plate and 60 plate) have a slightly clicky 3rd gear but I don't think they are anywhere as near as bad as the 07 issues that are well documented.

Think you put it better than me :) believe me people you would know if you had the proper 3rd gear issue and I think people are seeing the early cars problems and confusing the two
