Confused over lights!

Ok, must be getting old. Got told one of my brake lights was out. Looks like it is the one if the ones in the indicator cluster.

The red one for hand brake lights up, but the pedal brake on one side doesn't.

I know lights are in the wiki and manual, but confused by the terminology. Tail light, tail gate etc.

What is the bulb name for the pedal brake in the indicator cluster?

(Sorry, my brain has gone to mush!)

Cheers

it's a combined tail & brake light
it should be a T20 W21/5W 7443 wedge bulb type

Cool thanks. That must be a dual filament type, as the rear light works if that makes sense.
Found the sections on lights in the manual. Not sure why it shows a Stop/Tail-light in the fender AND tail-gate

Some versions of the 8G did have a stop light in the tailgate as well as the indicator cluster.
My TypeR doesn't and don't think the 1.8 Si did either.

All of them have a tail light in the tailgate and on RHD versions a fog light on the driver side.
So unless all your bulbs go at once you never have no lights on one side and look like a motorbike from the rear.

Popped to Halfords and got the 580 W21/5W bulb.

Went for the slightly more expensive Ring Pro one over the Halfords one. They used to do GE ones, but not anymore.

Broke some if the tabs off the stupid plastic cover that goes over the 2 bolt. Why is there so much bloody plastic in cars today 🤬
Better still old plastic gets brittle over time in constant heat/cold cycles!

The knack is to prise the tab out of the rear quarter first then just lift upwards.
I've done them on mine too, new ones from Cox are £22 each!

Thermo moulded plastic is cheaper than metal and wood.
I literally followed the instructions in the manual lol

Someone could 3d print common trim parts that are likely to break on these cars 😎
