So, I've recently fitted Cosworth front pads and EBC standard discs to my FN2. The Cosworth pads didn't come with shims and didn't feel like using the grotty old ones so left them off. I'm about 300 miles since fitting now and am getting a slight squeal on braking. Question to anyone who has fitted Cosworth pads, did you use shims? They didn't come with any shims (unlike EBC's which do apparently), so have people used the old Honda ones? Or bought new shims (about £7 i think)? Or left them off and not had any problems?

Best getting some shims matey, they are used to correct small imperfections that cause brake noise. Brake shims function as anti-rattle pads. They keep the pads and rotors from banging against each other or squealing so best get yourself some and apply some copper grease to the backs of them when fitting
