Just to let you know what the deal is with our new CR-Z with (what we call) iCF.
The initial batch of upgrades will only be available at the 8 Honda UK dealers who are also Mugen retailer, who are (as correctly posted by Shanei):

Avonvale Honda, Northampton
Bristol Honda, Bristol
Donnelly & Taggart, County Antrim
Ewens of Cornhill, Banff
Hendy Performance, Southampton
Phoenix Honda, Paisley
Springfield Honda, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Two Mills Honda, South Wirral

A few of them (currently Ewens, Phoenix, Springfield) will have pre-production demonstrators in December. Orders can be taken at any time for delivery in March on a first come first served basis.

The iCF will only be available as an option with new car sales (sorry no post-fit kits at this time) and the price, including installation at Mugen Euro, will be £4985 + VAT.
This includes the compressor, intercooler, airbox and Mugen front grille. To get a final price simply choose your model of CR-Z, add any other options you want (plus of course the iCF).
Hopefully that answers the bulk of the questions and clears up a bit of speculation.

So the Honda marketing guy was wrong or misquoted when he said the most expensive CRZ was 20k and a charged one would be 23k as it would be stupid to try and sell a 30k CRZ.

Are there any insurance companies on board as its basically an after market kit? Also is the Honda UK warranty maintained?

The starting spec S is £17695 so with iCF it's £23677 OTR.
The top spec CR-Z (GT) is £20820, if you add iCF @ £4985 + VAT you get on the road for £26802, so you get quite a bit of change from £30k.
I would say for what I assume was an off-the-cuff quote I don't think he was too far out.

I don't know if it has been given an insurance rating or not.

Out of curiosity will some mugenised cars ever show up in the european market? we got no mugen type r's whatsoever and as it seems no crz's as well.
If you take a look at the Bologna motor show that is on at the moment you will see there is a CR-Z Mugen on the Honda Italia stand.
Whether that will lead to Mugen cars being offered on the market, only time will tell.

£27k for a Crz with 200bhp  I love mugen stuff and own a fair ammount of it. But There is a lot more on the market with a lot more power for the same money. It is a cool car though:)

Speculating but sort of makes sense. The used market is a wash with CRZ's so if Honda stipulate for at least a while it is dealer option on new I'm guessing it protects their investment.

I was interested but only on GT which puts it out of my reign of sanity for paying on a Honda. Plus if the ABI haven't type approved it insurance will be at a premium :(

It's a hybrid mate, it's not designed or even billed to be a fire breathing RS killing monster, it's from what I gather basically Mugen saying let us give even the tree huggers a car to show off on the road and put a good few cars to shame at the same time as preserving the environment

True.

But....

This car is slightly different. It is for the person who wants a tree-hugging eco green save-the-planet gutless wonder for the commute, and something sporty for the weekend. Of course, this won't apply to many people, but for those that want this, the Mugen CR-Z is quite an appealing option.
