Hi i had my car washed the other week and just after notice a crack in my windscreen. dont think it was anything to do with the car wash just made it more clear. it was already a crack and not just a chip and is quite long it touches the base of the windscreen right in the middle and work its way up then abit to the side.
will i need a new windscreen and how much are they and fitted?
doubt it will be repairable but what are your thoughts?
and best places/prices? im based in birmingham/west midlands.
Thanks

There are cheapo's out there, so make sure you go for a Honda replacement - must be £600 - 700 now.
It's not repairable, so whats wrong with claiming from your windscreen insurance section of your policy. ?
Your excess can only be £75 - £100 and you won't loose any NCB, nor will your premium go up next year because of the claim.

yep had this a few months ago

£75 excess on the insurance and doesnt affect your ncb
a new windscreen was £700 to buy and more if you need the one with sensors in.

Autoglass will sort it out for you, but I have always phoned my Insurance Company, as I have insisted on a genuine replacement for which ever car I had at the time.
They will give you the old blarney about their ones being just as good, but stand your ground for a True Honda one.
All the I/ Companies save a few hundred by specifying cheapo replacements.

Yes I had an issue as they stated they used their own but dig your heels in and they will (usually) oblige. Make sure it has the Honda logo etched when he fits it and make sure all seals are reseated properly and any silicone is wiped off bodywork etc. My insurers used their firm which was auto windscreens based in Leeds I think and the fitter I had was spot on. I am sure you will have no issues with Auto glass/national windscreens etc.

Does it really matter? It's just glass. How are you ever going to tell the difference?

Also you put your car through a car wash? :worms:

I must of had 5 -6 replacement screens over the years and never had a problem regarding a genuine replacement- which ever Insurance Company I was with at the time. When one Company, tried it on - I said - " So, If someone gave my Aston Martin a bang and it needed a new wing, would you insist on a Ford Mondeo wing being used as a replacement ?"
I got my genuine replacement screen.
Just stand your ground.;)
