Hey guys, I've got a civic type R fn 2 and at the moment its completely stock except for a K&N air filter.
I thought of something: I plan on getting a Gruppe M intake with the bonnet intake scoop. So what are your thoughts of cutting a hole in the bonnet and getting a small hood scoop to feed outside air directly into the scoop and therefore the intake??

Don't see why it wouldn't work as a ram air intake. Can't imagine it would look good though....

We live in the UK though :-/ it rains..a lot.

I've been looking at an idea of connecting/extending the gruppe m scoop to fit the mugen grille. So that the full grille area is Feeding the intake..

And I've been toying with the idea of fitting a HKS filter instead of the k&n cone

I shudder to think what would happen to the bonnet approaching 100 mph with an airscoop attached....
I'd buy a 2nd hand bonnet for testing with :D
Finding a scoop that doesnt look odd will be the hard part

Depends on the aero really.
Theres a few ecotuners that use pressure sensor on various parts of the car to find the best place for ramair location.
Probably the best idea i guess.
Always liked the roof scoops myself....totally useless without a mide engine car but look good none the less

The Mugen 20's had holes in the bonnet but I think they were to reduce underbonnet temperatures rather than to feed air into an airfilter.

I don't think cutting holes in the bonnet would cause too much of a problem as the rising heat from the engine escapes through them.
It's also been done and tested my Mugen.

However having scoops drawing air into the engine bay from above may affect the bonnet? I wouldn't risk it flipping if you don't know what you are doing and you are changing the aerodynamics.

If you are running a filter that draws air from inside the engine bay then vents may help to bring down the temperature of inducted air.

Sorry for the loooong delay!
But I decided to go with a Tegiwa intake with the fog light inserts!
I also got a custome made 2.5" exhaust system. Haven't gotten an exhaust manifold though. The new exhaust sounds sweeeet!
Low down pull feels better (where I spend most of my time in everyday driving) and of course vtec is amazing!

Anyway, what do you think I should do next? To improve performance

Oh no, I have a chav car!

Always bad when a good car car is cheap enough that it ends up in the hands of someone who would mutilate it like this.

Sad day!

regulations!

Exhaust manifold - your car will be transformed with it. It will need mapping though!
But if I put in an exhaust manifold, wouldn't that mean the CAT would have to be removed? And I wouldn't be able to pass regulations without the cat.

What about a high flow cat instead? Would it give good gains?
