Just had 1st service done and first thing I noticed was that the dashboard illumination now goes VERY dim as soon as I turn on the lights. I have always set it a couple of clicks below MAX with lights on but anything below the MAX setting now is too dim for daylight driving, e.g. when raining. The difference between MAX and one click down is now enormous in "lights on" mode!

MAX is too bright for night time driving so it is now going to need adjusting between day and night time driving with the lights on, which is a bit of a pain.

Anyone else had this, or better still know how the brightness range is adjusted? Or is it a trip back to the dealers to be hooked up to their diagnostic kit for a trivial fault?

Why do they have to mess with it when it was working fine before?!

i also had a problem with my dashboard lights. At first when i turned that knob, the lights didnt change but when i came to the last setting ( the least brightest) suddenly the adjustments were huge. After the first service however it was normal ( well i think that its normal :p).
Hope you find 'your setting' because changing the brightness between night and day is a bit unpractical. Maybe you should ask your dealer if they could sort it out?

Notice that MAX is the same, lights on or lights off. It really is MAX, and not just one more increment.

My dash does not change day or night from how I set it.

However the sat nav screen is useless at night. It is too dim to see anything.

Every night I have to manually scroll through the settings to 'Day' and then turn it down to 70%. However despite saving this as a default it still insists on going back to ultra dim each time the car is started at night. It seems there is a single savable percentage setting which is applied to the unchangable dim night setting or the unchangable day setting. Each can be adjusted brighter or dimmer but the night setting is never bright enough to see properly on any setting!

Electric,
Sounds like you would do better turning off the Auto day/night brightness for the satnav. I have to agree that the satnav brightness control is rubbish, and the colours chosen for the colour schemes don't help either. I could almost believe that the software has been ported from another system and not tested thoroughly.

few points made here I think! :D

the max setting should be the same brightness as max-1, during the day...
on max-1, at night the sat nav display will use night time scheme (or it should)
on max, sat nav uses day time scheme irrespective of day / night

when you turn the dial, you should see the 'counter' go down / up in the multi-func computer display. but it's all fairly gradual.

the final setting that you set should remain set until you next change it.
