Just got quoted £392 from Gatwick Honda for the 50,000 mile service is that right?

when asked what was involved for it to cost so much I was told that amongst the standard filter changes there is a valve clearance check which takes time?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the diesel doesn't need that checked, thats for petrol vtec engines unless I'm mistaken, can anyone comment?

thats cheaper than all the quotes i had from honda garages i then went to tdi north who quoted £300 i would like to recommend them but i was there 4 hours and they didnt manage to change the fuel filter then because they were too incompetent to do it in the time quoted they charged me £320

 thats bad, I thought TDI would be on the ball?

I still think £392 is extortionate though. I'm interested to hear what others make of the valve clearance thing.

I've been quoted similar/ some higher for my upcoming 75,000 service...

Rediculous In my opinion as I used to pay £125 for a service in my petty golf...

Honda Unhappiness plan?

Not going to TDI North for my 4th year service then :(

No valve clearance checks on the diesel - but it is classed as a major service - I would have thought £300 is about right for a Honda - For £395 I would expect the MOT and full valet thrown in as well a full tank of fuel

That's what I thought, there isn't a valve clearance check on our diesel. I was just annoyed as the person I was speaking to didn't seem to know what they were talking about. They went from almost £400 to £275 when I questioned the valve check. I'm gonna haggle for that tank of fuel now ;)

Do some people actually get a tank of fuel as part of their service? I've not heard of that one before.

The 4th year diesel service is a pig. 5th is ok though. I've signed up to a two service and MOT plan at my dealers. £399 for next two services (the next of which is major), two MOT's and a air con service. It spreads the cost out with monthly payments and actually works out cheaper to boot.

The fuel filter is a horrible job as it is located on the rear bulkhead, I think you have to remove the battery and airbox to gain access, I often wonder if dealers actually change it as it not visible without removal of battery etc

Change all the filters, fuel, pollen, oil, but apparently, as i was quoted,an expensive valve clearance check also that doesn't need doing on the diesel afaik.

Its not that bad actually, easy to get battery and airbox out, 10min job. A skilled mechanic would do it blindfold, change the filter & prime the system using the hand pump back there.

Get them from Honda mate.

I bought a service kit from cox Honda when I had my derv.

Cheapest price i could find at the time. Better price than any dealer up here could do.
