Hi, I got in my car this morning and when I was driving I noticed that the fuel gauge wasn't working and the computer had a --- reading, then after a few mins its started working. However, after I put £40 of diesel in the gauge worked but the distance to fill up was still showing previous amount of 20 miles and kept going down, even though the tank is 2/3's full.

2.2 diesel.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Ben

I had same problem. You gone over any speed bumps fast recently?
Previous owner of mine must of and damaged the fuel tank under drivers seat which caused the sensor to give false readings. It would only show how much i had went it was a full tank but about 50miles later it showed that i needed fuel and fuel light kept coming on. So i went to the garage and that was the solution is to change or check the senor in the fuel tank is reading or working properly mate

Hope this helps :)

Try a simple reset to see if its a fault with the computer.

Disconnect your battery leads for a few minutes and it will reset everything, it may start to work again when you reconnect the battery?
