hi,

I'm considering of purchasing a double din for my FN2. I have a few questions to those who already have them installed..

1. Can you still use the USB port inside the armrest console?
2. Can you watch movies / videos while the car is moving?
3. Does it come with the USB cable to plug in your smartphone?
4. Lastly, what did you end up buying? I'm tossing up between Pioneer, JVC, and Sony.. What's a good brand in your opinion that you can recommend? I just want to play the songs off my iPod and be able to view and scroll easily all the playlists and its contents, as well as browse by artists, albums and genres. Oh and I also want to use the GPS app on my iPhone to be displayed on the head unit's screen.

Thanks in advance for your responses!

It all depends on the head unit you buy mate
The USB is Honda specific wiring so you will lose that but it can be removed and replaced with the one from your new stereo
Videos can be watched on the move so long as you don't connect the speed sensor to the stereo
Most come with a USB which can be connected to your phone
Personally I bought a Sony I connect my phone via Bluetooth and control it via the head unit
There is also a USB which I put my USB memory stick in with a music library on it anyway
It also has a tom tom module for satnav which works brilliantly
But the best thing is how it sounds, way better than standard mate
If your an iPhone user I think the general consensus is the pioneer app radio as you have great control over your iPhone
Hope this helps mate

hi,

1. Can you still use the USB port inside the armrest console?
No, unless you connect it up to the Double DIN via some cable bodging.

2. Can you watch movies / videos while the car is moving?
If you make use of a workaround to enable this, then yes. The type of workaround depends on your HU but could be incredibly simple.

3. Does it come with the USB cable to plug in your smartphone?
Mine did not, it was an optional extra.

4. Lastly, what did you end up buying? I'm tossing up between Pioneer, JVC, and Sony.. What's a good brand in your opinion that you can recommend? My unit is the Pioneer F940BT. Very happy with it; but as you're looking to use more of your phone and less of the HU you might be better off with something like one of the AppRadio units.

Thanks in advance for your responses!

can you see the album art, browse the playlist/artists/songs via Bluetooth?

thanks for the answers.. I actually plan to use my old iPod classic as my music/video library, and stream my iPhone to use the GPS app..

what do you think of this Pioneer head unit? would it do the job?
