Very interesting. What kind of impact would this have on MOTs?
The EU recommendation states a fail if:

8.2.1.1. Exhaust emissions control equipment
(a) Emission control equipment fitted by the manufacturer absent or obviously defective.

Not sure how that affects us, though.

I too questioned this with the mot station.
If the exhaust is intact, not excessively noisy, is within the smoke limit they will pass it.

Ignoring the fact that Lee is trading favours for MOT passes , that's interesting. Very tempted to remove mine before I get a remap.
Will have to have a word with my MOT station and see how strict they're going to be.

That's why we kept the existing exhaust chassis, so you can't tell from the outside. Diesel's are only smoke tested anyway and this won't be a problem for it.

But, how the smoke looks like? Isn't it way too dark on full throttle?

It was a little smokey at first, but it had been clogged up for weeks and weeks, spoke to my friend a few days later and he said the smoking was a lot less and only on full throttle (as you'd expect in any normal diesel car).
