Ford Sierra Cosworth. The first production car to have an engine that broke the magic 100bhp per Lt barrier. The YB engine was a derivative of the Pinto engine which powered cars from the Mk1 Escort & Transit van to the Ford Mustang. From Touring car Legend, including BTCC, DTM and Bathurst 1000, Rally legend to Monday morning commuter. A car that defined a generation.

Slow compared to Betty and only 200bhp when new.

And when you were a laddie you only had 3 channels on the TV too.....30 years between the two cars, its no surprise. When the Cossie came out my dads 2.3D Sierra estate had 57 bhp, my wife's Picanto has more than that.

i did think of the escort cosworth, yes they are slow compared to todays standards

But they are/were easily tuneable. There was no real requirement for 400bhp back in the day, when most hot hatches barely had 100bhp. Remember the fuss the Lotus Carlton created when it came along, what was that 370bhp? It was mentioned in the Houses of Parliament, where they wanted it banned lol.

Got shredded by a Lotus Carlton on the A21 near Tunbridge Wells one night back in the '90s
I was in my Vx Calibra doing about 100 and he just sailed past into the dark, all I saw was the badge on the back.

In the 90's there was pretty much nothing on the road that wouldn't get shredded by a Lotus Carlton.
