ok so at first it was kinda funny.. i switch the engine off and remove the key, open the door and step out. as i grab the door to close it i get a small electric shock as my fingers touch the door. its every single time now.. annoying to say the least. anyone else get this? anyone know why its happening?

sounds like you have an earthing problem and when your touching the door it's using you to earth, do you have any aftermarket stereo equipment?

I don't get it on my FN2 but I get it on the wife's FK2 all the time.

I've put it down to difference in the tyres. Might be completely wrong though.

nope all stereo stuff is standard, nothing internally has been changed except a skunk2 gearknob

im thinking maybe something to do with the key?

Hmmm not sure then but my car used to do the exact same thing and it was a wire that wasn't earthed properly so it was using me to earth as i got out and my feet was touching the ground and my hand on the door...

Its just a build up of static electricity and perfectly normal. When you get out of the car your body just earths itself via your hand through the metal of the chassis as it cant through the synthetic soles of your shoes.
It is more noticeable at the moment as the air is so dry.
I have started closing my car door by pushing on the window as i hate the feeling.

I was walking along a few days ago pushing a shopping trolley which i was holding by the plastic handle and everytime i moved my hand close to the metal parts i got a shock. I could even hear the slight 'click' sound that the spark made :s

I was just thinking this static thingy only yesterday, those shocks give a surprise, harmless but surprising when you are not expecting it...

+1 has it for 2-3 weeks now.
Dry air static and clothing rubbing on the seat probably.
Pretty much as R2 said.

I often find if someone else opens the door first I dont get zapped ;)
