Hi

Have read many posts in here. Searched many also. but my problem seems to be a little bit of many post, so started a new one.

Scenario:

Cold snap in January battery went flat. Checked battery with meter 11.8v. So jump started with no key in ignition. Car started no problems. Took for a run to charge battery. All ok except rear lock would not work. Thought not a big problem. So I would leave until had time to go to dealer.

Week ago decided to check rear lock again before I take it to dealer. Lock worked to my surprise. Thought ok cool no expense there, all is good. 2 days later go to use car, totally dead. No battery life at all. So put a meter on battery measured 6.4v. Thought to my self way to low. So decided to get new battery. Fitted new battery (No key in ignition again, Because I know about the key problem). Alarm siren going. Thought putting key in ignition would stop alarm, No. Went to try start car, keys not recognised. Immobiliser kicking in. Called dealer, said keys need programming. Ok got car there with AA. They reprogrammed keys, got car started. But the alarm is still going off. Said they need to talk to Honda monday see if there is another reset for alarm they do not know about. Otherwise I would need a new alarm unit.

My questions:
Is all these things related? (Rear lock / battery drain so quickly)
or have all these problems been alarm related from start?

Anybody got any ideas?

Ok update today.

Spoke to dealer today. Said need new alarm. £652 fitted.
Also said that jump starting can also knock out the alarm. So from now on will be a AA job if battery goes flat again. Said there going to do drain check on battery when alarm fitted, see if anything else is draining battery.

Rear lock problem they have had a bulletin about. Can be one of 2 things.

1. Micro switch in drivers door handle / lock that tells if car is unlocked so tells rear lock ok to be unlocked.

2. Also could be a sticky solenoid in rear lock

Part for front door £100 fitted or £32 to buy. Said I would fit it my self.

Hope nobody else has these problems.

I would disconnect the alarm and then sort the door lock out, rather than pay all that money without more investigation.

I asked them what there policy was if it was not the alarm. They said if they have diagnosed it badly then it was there problem, not my problem. So we will see how that one goes when I go to collect car.

Also with the Alarm no resetting and going off constantly have to have it replaced.

All my problems are sorted now.

Turns out even with key out ignition you can still blow your Alarm on the early models when jump starting, because they have not got a Alarm protection circuit.

So to have my keys programmed and new Alarm cost £652 fitted.

All is well now.
