Hi Guys,

My EX has a cracked driver speaker so I'm looking to replace with something functional as opposed to the best.
I have come across some FLI 6.5 speakers + Civic adapter for £30 a pair:
FLI FU6-F1 & CT25HD05 HONDA CIVIC 2006 - 2012 6" SPEAKERS & ADAPTORS KIT | eBay
Which is fine for a functional replacement

I would like a slightly better bass response. Assuming that the new speakers will not give this out of the box, and being aware that the doors need sound proofing, which would be the best way to go:

Add a compact 4 channel amp behind the stock HU, (this should do for the FLI speakers Mac Audio MPX4000 4 channel power amplifier 1000 watts peak power - MPX4000 from Mac Audio

or

Get a compact sub in the boot with a built in LOC and tap into the rear speaker wires to give a (high level) signal? Must be slim sub to fit under the boot - I need my boot space and will not compromise with boot builds or large subs.
