so my warranty runs out next month and ive had a letter asking if I want to extend it
as 1 would expect its not that cheap
just wondering what people have paid if they extend it I seam to remember someone posting saying they got theres reduced after not accepting to renew at first im tempted but would like it to a bit cheaper over the 2 year deal
ive had o2 sensors and clutch & flywheel replaced under warranty so far
but to benefit the cost something big has to fail
car is almost 4 years old only 30000 miles on it at moment

If the clutch and flywheel have been replaced already (30,000 miles!!!!!!!) I'd pay for another year and see what happens.

How much is it and is it Honda extended?

honda price 1 year £399 garage offer £325
2 year £707 garage offer£580
3 year £940 garage offer£820
id say id be tempted at 2 year for around £400
clutch was replaced soon after I got it due to the cold morning judder many have experienced

luckily my local honda dealer is better than some others from what I hear regarding warranty claims

nothing to do with driving style
there was a few flywheels that leaked grease out onto the clutch surface during cold damp weather
if they stripped the car down and after cleaning found contamination then you got new ones fitted under warranty
if it was ware and tare due to driving style you wouldn't get it replaced as warranty claim

Would you not be better opening up an ISA and keep adding into it? At least that way, if something fails you have the money as a backup and if it doesn't nice wee sum to take you a nice holiday.

My Honda dealer does the warranty by monthly direct debit on younger cars and 1 year at only £299
Better than forking it out in one lump.

Gotcha, thanks for the info. Personally, I have never heard of clutch grease recalls here in Canada and we get pretty damn cold.

Personally I wouldnt bother with a warranty, I've always found Honda cars to be very reliable, in fact one of the main reasons for buying one.

If you do want a warranty the manufacturers ones tend to be far better and cover lots more, I've heard variable reports from people who've had third party warranties, often many items are not covered, there's a limit on claims, they only pay up to an hourly rate that's well short of what a main dealer would charge, that sort of thing.

Personally I'd just pay a bit into an account somewhere and hope that if you get a problem it will cover it. If you dont get anything go wrong then you keep the cash.

I had the used approved warranty on my CTR, bought 2 years ago this month.
I extended it another year, but now she is over 8 years old the cover drops but the price stays the same with no monthly payment option.
Given the only things I have claimed for are a dead rear shock and a PCV valve I could have done them myself within the price of the warranty.
A third party warranty came out more expensive, can't remember which one.
I won't be renewing it but will take the chance.
