I play poker as part of my living a few days a week, so at every point I need a fair amount of cash in my room to hand. Bank's no-where near me and I don't drive anymore so would be unfeasible constantly going back and fourth.

I am dead certain that some money is going missing. I am sure whilst I was playing tonight a £50 note has disappeared.

I really don't like accusing people unless I'm sure and there's a chance I have miscounted - as I was in a rush when I was going out tonight. So I don't want to unnecessarily be causing animosity between us.

Can anyone recommend a Spy-camera, like a Nanny-cam? I would preferably be looking for one with motion sensor activated and night vision which could be linked to my iPad and alert of an intrusion.

A dashcam with motion sensors, if it runs off 5v, just hook it up to a USB battery pack.

Since most dashcams draw less than 500mA of power,a 8000mAh power brick will give you more than 10 hours of run time, just hide the dashcam so it cant be seen.

You could also put the cash in your wallet.

Hiding a camera in a poker game is likely to get you accused of cheating, probably end up with your legs broken.
Surely you either have your money on you/in front of you and any remaining securely locked away (assuming you are playing at home), cant see how £50 can vanish, sounds as if you have miscounted, in which case you have too much money in the fist place thus should not miss the odd £50

I think it's going missing whilst he goes out to play poker as I understand it.

I would agree it must be someone close to you if it is happening or they would swipe more of your stash, who ever it is thinks they can have a single note and you be none the wiser.

Or you have miscounted, be sure before confronting anyone. Before you manage to get the camera you could always do the little tiny bit of paper in door frame trick when closing door. If you come back to door closed but paper out you know someone has intruded.

But is your money 'stash' in the same room as you play poker? Because as previously mentioned if you try and put a camera in the poker room that could cause problems..

But just look on eBay at spy cameras.. Loads of different kinds ranging from pen cameras to like door hanger cameras.. Or as previously mentioned get a dash cam with a USB power source and do it that way

But if I were you I would hide it somewhere where nobody would usually look..

I don't want a camera whilst I play. I play at a casino, that would get me insta-banned. I want one as CCTV for my bedroom, to record in my absence. Obviously I keep a good count on my money now, but if it happens again I would like it recorded.

webcam and a laptop or the built in webcam on most laptops
there's plenty of software about that does motion detection just turn the screen off on the laptop
most people won't even notice especially if the laptops used regularly anyway

I have a safe like this Antique/Vintage Safe/ Cast Iron/Wine Cooler/Cocktail Cab/Security Cabinet/Deeds | eBay trust me that heavy no one is taking it even though nothing of any value inside it just passports and receipts / warranty for items purchased along with photo albums etc as fire proof. Mind you mine is a little bigger than this one

I used to have my webcam (just a standard 2-3 years old one) setup using a free software and it will take photos (you can set the rate) when the webcam caught any motions, have that saved in a Dropbox shared folder so i could access anywhere.
