So my 2 day old civic is already giving me a head ake, i brought it with out realising the aircon doesn't work (rookie mistake i know) , so after going through the forum (witch was very helpful) i ordered my self a new relay ! annnnnnd no :( the compressor still doesnt spin :'( my question is if the gas in the system is low will this prevent it from spinning ? , so if i take her for a regas might this sort the issue ? OR does it spin weather its got pressure or not ? , ive not done very well here ! haha , i have checked the fuses and replaced the relay

thanks for reading

If the compressor doesn’t spin after new relay it will either be low on gas or a knackered compressor. If its been a hot day it may also be that the shim behind the clutch has swollen and needs swapping for a new thinner one too. If I was a betting man Id go with low gas though. You are correct in thinking low gas pressure wont allow the compressor to kick in.

I just replaced my condenser last week, re-gassed yesterday, I’m hoping that was the issue.

i guess for someone who isnt very mechanically minded , (like myself) a condenser swap is hard ?

Not really. 10mm spanner/socket and a screwdriver to remove the pop studs from the plastic slam panel. Remove the front grill. 4 bolts hold the slam panel cross member in place, just move this over the engine, no need to disconnect the cables. I did cut the plastic from the lower shroud amnd push it out the way to get to the lower AC union but that was as hard as it got. The condensor is only held in by 4 rubbers, 2 top 2 bottom, and the two pipes. Think it took me an hour in total.

Never done one, but Aux belt off, disconnect pipes, unbolt. The Shim replacement was easy enough on it, biggest pain was having to remove the underbelly tray, which you would need to do to replace the compressor.

Just be 100% sure it is out of gas before you start disconnecting pipes, as you could not only get a nasty burn (or whatever the opposite is, as its a refrigerant, so will freeze) if you release the gas, but its also illegal to release the refrigerant gas into the atmosphere

Best bet, is just take it to a specialist to diagnose exaclty what the issue is, as if not you could end up playing "parts darts" with the aircon system

Why would you even consider a condenser change without doing leak tests?
If/when you get it re-gassed, get the operative to put a UV dye in. It will make tracking leaks a piece of p***

Ok so I would start with the cheap option. Remove the shim behind the clutch and try again. You need to pull the engine tray to get to it, but its a couple of bolts. Ill link you the how too.

Had exakt the same problems on my Civic -06 and it was the AC-Compressor that was broken.
