Ok, today I looked at my fd2 cams which are going to be installed very soon. The lobes look smooth and in good condition. But on 1 cam in the black part between the lobe there is a something like a line in the black "paint".

What could this be? Is the cam damaged? Probably not. But I want to be sure.
Could this happend during transport?

Or is this normal?

I didn't take a pic as I was certain but now I have doubts.

Did it look like this:

There are other marking on them too like " R1" and " R2" etc, these are just marking to distinguish different cams, or did you see something different.

Hope this helps

No, it was more something like a scratch.

As long as it was on the "black" bit and not on the Cam lobe or running surfaces on the mounting towers it shouldn't matter I would of thought

I looked again, the marks are left and right of "IN" on the cam, from top till bottom. Maybe they were used and sold as new.

Yes, I think the same

OP - post a picture of the marks. If they are damaged I'm sure CPL will look after you.

Also the markings such as "R1", R2" etc on the cams aren't unique to the same part numbers. I had three FD2 intake cams infront of me, all of which had different markings. The markings are for casting batches.

If you look very good you see the "mark" I mean on the pic stoney posted. It is situated on the left of "IN" on the pic. Just above the plastic.

Ok, I was just a little bit worried :). But what are these marks then? Now I'm curious.
