First Diesel and first 8th gen

Hi guys, iam pretty much set on a 2.2 Civic, took one out for a little test drive yesterday, and i love the interior and the nice low down torque. Won't be doing that many miles in it, but i figure a tank will probly last me a month, and want cheap tax, etc.

My only previous cars have been a DC5, and a EP3, so im not exactly thrilled to bits about a diesel civic lol but i wanna save cash so it's a need must.

My first question is what impact do the size of wheels have on the ride quality? The plain looking 16's looks a bit rubbish, but i don't wanna get bigger if the ride suffers a lot.

Regarding remaps how do you know if one has had one or not? Don't want one with a remap as ive read the clutch can't take it, which seems a bit pathetic with only 190brake at most? Which is a shame as it's something id do if it's only 300ish quid, as im used to spending 300quid on a filter and 900 on kpro lol.

Is it worth getting a facelift, or is just cosmetic differences?

1. The wheels have an impact on the quality of the ride. If you wanna improve the "harsh ride" you would be better off spending your money on some eibachs springs.
2. To find out if one has a remap, I think you would need to connect a device or a laptop "thingy" under the steering wheel (to the female plug underneath) and I guess all "may be revealed". (I have a 1.8 SE so I am in the dark about remaps). Send a PM to F6HAD in the forum. He is a nice chap.
3. Getting a facelift makes no difference buddy. It's just cosmetic.

I'm not sure how easy it is to test for a remap through the OBDII port?
A basic OBDII reader won't tell you that at least.

I don't think that any of the UK Civic diesels have a DPF, but that may be worth double checking as PDFs don't like short journeys at it sounds like you may be making just that.

The facelift does have some improvements, like the aux in for the stereo.
Check out the wiki for more details.

That's the reason I got 1 mate I spend £40 a month on fuel which half what I was paying for my GT4 So I'm happy :) Regarding the remap I've just had mine done and it makes such a difference it's amazing ;)

is that because its a file format?
welcome buddy im on 18's no issue with eibachs
You'll not regret the diesel mate. Loads of torque in the 2.2, she just keeps giving.
Thanks fella's. Still on the search for one, in no rush to buy 1, just want a standard clean one.

Can't decide if i want 16" wheels or 17" lol.
Go for the 17s, 16 just looks too small!
Hi guys, well i went to see a really tidy Civic 2.2 today and ive put a deposit on it. It really was faultless condition wise, other than slight kerbing on 1 wheel. Interior looked like a brand new car, no exageration.

2007 Type S GT with 28,000 miles. FHSH, 1 owner, 4 decent tyres. Just had clutch replaced. (my only real worry).

Looking forward to it, even after a DC5, lol.

How hard is it to install a Double Din head unit, more specifically a Kenwood DNX 5240BT?

Got it for £7800, good bad or ok? lol.

For 7800 ?? Off course it is good. Every day I saw here on forum so cheap cars when compared to my country. I payed mine last summer 14000 pounds (also 2007.Types 2.2i-CTDI). Off course that I get it on credit on 7 years, at almost 1/3 of my month payment. We have expensive cars here and lower pays than you - hehehe.
I ccould buy 2 of those for that money at United Kingdom...
