I have a Honda Civic Type R FN2 (72k miles) which has an error code P2646 which comes on at high revs. I had already changed the VTEC Solenoid Spool Assembly and pressure sensor switch about 7 months ago because of the code and it was fine until it came back about a week ago.
I changed the oil again and noticed a fairly strong smell of petrol - although the oil was constantly being topped up by me as the thing eats it. I bought myself a compression test gauge and tested the cylinders (results below). Also tried the oil blob test on paper but didn't see much of a difference between fresh oil, my oil from sump and oil from sump + 40% added petrol.
Not sure about my results, what would you do? I've only had the car about 9 months, I would like to keep it but not sure about costs if piston rings are shagged as I can really only do reasonably simple stuff.
DRY TEST
CYL 1 = 210psi
CYL 2 = 210psi
CYL 3 = 200psi
CYL 4 = 202psi
WET TEST
CYL 3 = 212psi
CYL 4 = 210psi
Already changed PCV valve and cleaned both oil Screens on Vtec again - I used Castrol Edge 5w-40 this time, I was previously using Castrol Edge 5w-30.
Only other modifications I have made in the past month are Tegiwa Airbox with tract and fog light cold air scoops.
