Rather than bombarding individual mod threads, agree with musegroove that there should be a thread dedicated to mod tips, suggestions and questions for fn2 modding.

Only joking, perhaps...

When I look at headers all the aftermarket ones look about twice as long as the oem one. Is that because the oem cat pipe is quite long? Considering the piper mani as it's the only one I can find with a sports cat option. I saw a thread on solid fabrications doing them but not sure if they still are? How easy is the install and fit of these headers? I think this will have to be my next power mod.

The length of the oem manifold is about getting the cat close to the engine for getting up to temperature quickly thus having better cold start emissions I believe. Aftermarket manifolds remove the cat restriction and so they can focus on tuning the primary and secondary (if 4-2-1) lengths for the desired power band.

Gotcha. Is fitment straightforward? A case of disconnecting the cat then the mani and reversing the process with the new stuff? Just want to get an idea of fitment costs before I buy. :smile3:

TDi North fitted mine as I was getting it mapped at the same time, an hours labour I think it was. Fitting is as you say. With the cat removed there is no need for the secondary lambda sensor (disabled in Flashpro).

Thanks. I want a sports cat so I don't have to keep swapping, the only two I've heard of that will bolt on are piper and solid fabs. Don't want to chop anything.

It is a pain without a cat I must admit. I got lucky at my last MOT but I'd rather not risk it again so I'll be sorting out a drop in cat section before it comes around again in March. I wonder whether anyone has ever tried welding in a cat at the bottom of a Tegiwa manifold before, I suppose there isn't much room but that'd surely be a neat solution with benefits of both.

Musegroove stuck one in the b pipe of his milltek (under the drivers seat area).

Yeah I'd seen that. I was contemplating doing the same but with it as a bolted section. Also considering a silenced section there to drop the exhaust volume a little as I want to hear more from the intake again haha

Changed it to a bolt on section in the end.

Will also be up for sale soon :D
