Hi all,

New here so apologies if this sort of thing's been done to death, but basically I noticed that my 09 fn2 i bought a month or so ago has the classic rust issue where the windscreen meets the roof.

From what i've read it seems to be a hit or a miss of Honda honouring it in the past. But i was wondering firstly if it would still come under the 12 year anti corrosion warranty.

Secondly, it's only got one Honda stamp from about 2013 i believe, will i still have a strong case?

Thirdly, i know we're in a pandemic and all so there's no real rush for me to push on with it right now but when/if i do should i just go straight to my local dealer or fire off an email to Honda UK. Any advice on this would be much appreciated:)

No harm in giving it a try.

Most cases I have read here are granted when there is a significant honda service history as they do a corrosion check.

You could escalate to honda UK. It also seems to depend on which dealer you go to.

Just got my 10 year old FN2 back from the repairer today. Earlier in the year whilst giving it a good polish / wax I noticed the dreaded roof rust issue emerging in its early stages. Hadn’t noticed it before as I was aware of the issue and kept an eye open for it. Anyway after much communication, the Warranty claim was approved. Honda wanted photos of windscreen serial number and paint measurements from roof. I dropped the car last week and collected it today. Freshly painted roof and a new seal. Car had 5 years of Honda servicing and 4 services (now 5) from a Honda Independent specialist.

Interesting.
My FN2 is 10 yo next March and shows no sign of rust.
I took the seal out recently and cleaned the area of dirt etc and put a coat of wax polish along the seal/roof surface.
I think I would be on a loser with any claim as I am sure the screen is not original and I had the roof resprayed as part of a general paint job a year ago.

I have an 09 1.8 petrol and i dont see any big issues with roof rust. Last summer when it was red hot i probed this. I got a fine wet cotton cloth and wet it,fitted it around a blunt round ended knife and slid it under the seal and cleaned out any crap the full length of the seal until the cloth showed clean. I let it dry under the baking sun and i then injected waxoyl under the seal which presumably ran everywhere in the heat and filled every nook and cranny. For rust to occur you need air and water. Im hoping ive excluded both.
