Hi Civ members

The battery warning is frequently display in the daskboard, as one moment the car stalled, thank god I was in a residential area after a 100 mile journey on the motorway. AA guy checked the car and says the battery is fine and recommend to take the car to the dealer asap. It's just been a week today I bought from Gordon lamb. What are the options for me now? Shall I ask for a refund or should I get it repaired. Got 12 month warranty on it. Please suggest. Completely upset with the civic now :-(

Take it back and tell them if its not fixed you will return the car.
Make sure they understand this very very clearly ;)
You have 30 days to return the car if not completely satisfied as I understand the law.
Plus you still have 12 month guarantee for any further issues.

Hi mate, take it back to a dealer....not necessarily the one you made the purchase at. Make use of the warranty that is what it's for. Don't lose heart though as I am sure it's a small hic up......Good luck :)

Take it back to a dealer, although preferably the one you bought it from, as they will then have a record of the problem if they can't fix it and you need to take further action.

If it's under warranty, just get it to any franchised dealer.

The light means that the battery is not giving / getting a proper charge, not that there's necessarily a problem with the battery per se. It could be that there's a problem with the alternator or even the alternator belt may be slipping due to it's being loose or suffering from condensation; it doesn't always give the tell-tale squeal.

Update called my supplying dealer and said I want to return the car as there is a fault within 7 working days of purchase. As per terms given to me at time of purchase I can return the car with in 7 working days if there is a fault.

Had a word with the servicing dealer and was said it may take upto 2 weeks to get it sorted because of the holidays.
