in my 2.2 icdti the DMF is shaking a bit, clutch plate is slipping very slightly, the clutch pedal bite is right on the floor and sometimes the pedal does not travel back up unless i pull it up.
i can't afford DMF+clutch+slave cylider+labour @ £1250 quoted.
i can afford slave cylinder @ £40 DIY

does it make sense to replace just the slave cylinder, with the hope to drive another few k miles?
can DIY it in a driveway with no lift?

Whats the mileage of the car?
The stock clutch has a ratchet system which can prevent slip but is lazy to respond (tighten sometimes). You may still have life in the clutch. Probably either the slave or master that is letting air in or leaking.
