Hi,

I have read another topic on this board relating to the door not shutting properly.

I have a similar issue, but my problem it with the latch. Its as if it is permanently pulled open. The pin (or piston) next to the fuel cap is stuck in the retracted position and the handle at the drivers right leg is permanently stuck out as if pulled.

I have tried to push the handle but this has no effect. also i have tried WD40 in to the latch but this also hasn't worked

Any ideas???

My only advice is not to use WD40, this is a water dispersant ( water dispersant 40th attempt ;) ) but to use a lube instead, oil, 3 in 1 , white grease etc.

something is preventing the pin from retracting

I don't think you have understood, the pin is permanently retracted.
I assume that the spring (that forces the pin back out once the handle has been pulled) is stuck and needs freed somehow

Fixed!

I put some grease on the pin - no success

I put some grease on the cable and pull handle - no success

Finally I used a pair of pin nose pliers and forced the cable back into the the dashboard and it just flew in and hay presto - fixed
