I quite fancy fitting a new gear knob to my new 1.0L EX but I saw somewhere on YouTube that the gearknob is no longer a separate part. Is this correct?
Seems a shame if I can't if the nice shiny red one I found on Amazon - although its described as for a gen. 8 Civic.

Yes it is. It just screws on when you have detached the gaiter by pushing down on it.

Sorry to be pedantic :serious: but is it Yes its a separate part and can be replaced or Yes correct not a separate part?
If it can be replaced will a knob for an 8 gen fit the X gen i.e. same thread?

Yes, the knob is a separate part (Well it is on my 10G Prestige anyway.) It just screws off when you have detached the gaiter by pushing down on the gaiter to separate the gaiter from the gear knob.
As to whether an 8G will fit with regard to thread, I don't know, but if you take the one off your 10G and try to fit the one from the 8G, you will find out PDQ. But I would have a wild guess at the threads being the same.

If the 8G one is different and doesn't have the bit that the gaitor clings to ......
